Hello FTC Nation - Another four weeks has flown by without a blog post. Part of the reason is that we're burning off some vacation time, part of the reason is that the things going on are "behind the scenes" and part of the reason is that I get distracted too easily.
So, what's been going on behind the scenes? We've now produced 2,500 Samantha WiFi modules and they are in transit to PITSCO/LEGO for inclusion in the new kits! As a reminder these are being provided free of charge thanks to the generous donation of time and money from John Toebes and his CISCO team and the Kauffman Foundation. Final touches are being put on the documentation for the WiFi modules. The setup of the modules is not too difficult but does require some knowledge of connecting through the WiFi router you'll use. There are also versions of the documentation based on the operating system of the computer. We determined the best way to make this available was via the web. The decision tree format of the information required lends itself well to a web interface.
Game Design is chugging forward. We're now putting the final touches on rules and allowable materials. Stay tuned for game clues in this blog.
We've also been spending a lot of time with some new potential sponsors. Seems that word is continuing to spread about the fast growing FTC program and more sponsors are getting on board.
Finally, Jon Dudas started with FIRST as President just last week. Great to have him aboard. You'll undoubtedly see him at some FTC events this year.
More to follow, sooner next time!
Ken
