lighthouses so probably an ir beacon again this year, possibly 2 on each side because of 2 lighthouses in the picture
FINALLY, A water challenge!Jk, haha.^That seems like a good idea.
And, possibly a "Cooler" challenge as well!
I'm also inclined to belive the ir beacon idea. possibly also poles to place donuts onto?
Going by his last post and this one, we will have to move crates from IR beacon to IR beacon. The alliance with the biggest pile wins.
It's a 7-10 split.
The title is "old and new," so maybe the beacons have both visual lights (for the old light sensor) and infrared lights (for the new IR sensor). Also, Nate, my thoughts exactly.
The 7-10 makes sence.Haha, watch as this game has nothing to do with bowling.
Wait, another defintion of old and new is "referbish" And "cool" has been mentioned twice now, with a pic of a penguin. I think they are bringing bacdk elements of older games into this years game. Refering back to the penguin, I think thats supposed to mean hockey pucks are coming back. Also the words "Flying" and "good camera shots" have been mentioned. Which may mean that the "shooting" part of hot shot is comeing back as well. Did I give to much away? :P
Most of the following is based on posts from others (on chief delphi) about the hints, but here is what I think the game will be:The game will be centered around bowling (a lot of hints allude to this). Each alliance will have their set of pins and the goal is to knock the other team's pins down. These pins will most likely need to be set up in a specific part of the field and there will probably be an IR beacon that will show where that position is (the goal of autonomous might be to set up as many pins as possible and endgame be the time where you can knock them down). There may be some part of the game where you need to put rings around the pins, I'm not sure how that fits in though. Another end game idea might be that there are some off field pins and you get one end game ball to knock down that set. The one part I'm worried about for this game idea is if the robots can protect their pins. That would make the game a little difficult to play offensively so there would need to be some restrictions here. So this is what I think the game will be like and it looks like it could have a lot of potential.Vineeth Gangaram3509 Team Mentor
i think that it is the 5th anniversary of ftc this year, so maybe they are going to bring back all the old and new scoring elements
Some great ideas Vineeth. I like the idea of stacking your own pins, and then bowling the opponent's down. It would require a robot with more than just defense to score. Maybe that's what the rings are for... they are the "bowling balls".
If you stretch a net across those 2 lighthouses it would look like a tennis/badmitton/vollyball net
anyone else notice the last 3 posts have started with "Hard to believe... ". Hmmm...
Ok, after reading all the hints so far, it sounds to me like this years challenge will involve the temperature sensor. Also interesting is the item featured on the HiTechnic homepage (http://www.hitechnic.com/).
That makes since about what the games about! Its "hard to believe" that FTC is celebrating its 5th year anniversary!
Maybe this suggests not only two alliances, but also two alliance members. This also may suggest two different scoring elements. That would shake thinks up. One type of element is good and the other one is poison
There's water in this picture! Water balloons?
They wouldn't have water in this competition. In any competition. It would be too annoying with the electronics and it would be too hard to set up
What if this picture suggest a multi-leveled playing field. They did that, kind of, in HOT SHOT and in GET OVER IT AS WELL
